The event took place at Mowden Park Rugby Club, Darlington this morning (9th May 2017) and involved The Fire Service, Police and North East Ambulance Service staff and vehicles.
The exercise was constructed in order to practise and test the emergency services in responding to a chemical attack, within a local sporting arena.
Darlington College Students participated by role playing casualties and sporting spectators as well as being party to a decontamination process set up by the fire service and ambulance service. Students were given the opportunity to speak to the staff involved and find out more about employment opportunities within their selected services as well as exploring the kit and equipment used.
Uniformed Services Tutor, Gary Paxton said “This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to gain valuable knowledge of the service sector, in order for them to make informed decisions about their future.
“It allowed the students to see first hand how the emergency services co-operate with each other in order to save and protect the public.
“We are very privileged to be part of this exercise”
