Durham University Students Join Journalism Apprentices for College Masterclass

Durham University students enjoyed a taste of industry-accredited NCTJ journalism training at Darlington College when they joined apprentices for a mobile masterclass led by freelance journalist Dave Donaldson.

Erin Waks, Riana Dixon, Shoaib Ahmed and Abel Bede are section editors at Durham University student publication, the Bubble.

Along with Newsquest journalism apprentices from Hereford, Chester, Swindon and London, they picked up tips on producing multimedia content on mobile from Dave Donaldson, an alumnus of Darlington College, who freelances for Sky sports and news and STV.

Producing content on mobile devices is a key skill required as part of the NCTJ Multimedia Journalism diploma and Junior Journalist apprenticeship.
