A Darlington College journalism student is enjoying life as a trainee reporter months before her course comes to an end.
Lyndsey Young is studying the industry-accredited NCTJ Journalism Diploma and has secured a role at Scarborough Today while continuing with her studies.
Lyndsey has already achieved gold standard grades in media law and regulation and essential journalism and this month starts study in court reporting, public affairs and video journalism while continuing to work towards achieving 100wpm shorthand.
It was a love of writing and interest in news that prompted a career change for Lyndsey.
Lyndsey said of her new role: “I can’t believe I got the job as trainee reporter at Scarborough. It’s a dream come true for me. I have managed to turn something I love into a job and now when I say I love my job, I actually really mean it.”
