Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility at Darlington College
Darlington College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its students. We recognise that it is the responsibility of all college staff, Governors, volunteers and partners to share this commitment and ensure that all students are safe and feel safe while in college, on work place or in the work place.
The college has a safeguarding policy that is rigorously enforced and all matters relating to it are of the utmost importance to us. This policy has been approved by Darlington Local safeguarding Partnership and adheres to Local Children’s Social Care procedures.
Staying Safe at Darlington College
You have a right to be safe while at college, on work placement or in your work place. The college has a zero tolerance to bullying and we deal with every reported case. We want you enjoy going on line but we would like you to be safe while you are so as a full-time student you will receive a tutorial in your first half term on safeguarding and e-safety. We also have zero tolerance on drugs, alcohol and offensive weapons and if you are found in possession of these you will face disciplinary action.
Please click on the links to read our policies on Bullying and Harassment, Student Substance and Alcohol Misuse and Child Protection and the Protection of Vulnerable Adults.
We also have a Safeguarding Advice Booklet for students, which provides some tips on keeping you safe online. To help you do well in your studies and to keep you safe, the college has a Attendance Procedure outlining how attendance is monitored and our expectations of students.
If you don’t feel safe or you have a concern about someone else contact our Safeguarding Team.
If you feel someone is expressing extremist views that concern you then contact one of the Safeguarding Team.
